Three Wheeled Buggies
Whether you're seeking a buggy to run with or just a compact stroller for the neighborhood, three-wheeled buggies offer great mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver, even in tight spaces.
If you want a smooth ride on your baby, opt for models with 360deg front wheels that swivel. However, they are more prone to punctures, so be prepared with an repair kit.
Frame made of sturdy material

Figures have just been released revealing that the three-wheeled vehicle - that noughties symbol of more money than sense - is in steep decline. Four-wheelers have replaced them, and are more versatile and easy to drive while still looking elegant.
The general rule is that the bigger the wheels, the easier it will be for your buggy to deal with rough ground and bumpy pavements. The larger wheels, both front and rear enable you to maneuver and more stable while walking downhill or on difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy on the newborn baby and a toddler and found it very durable. It handled cobbles, grass and rough pavements, as well as dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath wrote "it is sturdy to push and is very stable when traversing difficult terrain. Its tyres, which are inflatable and need to be pumped up regularly they have suspension built-in. It was extremely comfortable for my kids.
The size and shape of the seat is another thing to think about. It should be large enough to accommodate your child's comfort and you will also want it to be able to recline for them to lie flat. Certain three-wheel buggies have an option to lie flat completely while others allow an adult facing one.
A great choice for tackling off-road and muddy walks is the Roma Atlas. This buggy is ideal for a single child as early as birth, and can be adapted to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for babies and toddlers until age four and includes a bumper bar, raincover, an improved 5-point harness, and a large cushioned seat. Storage options are also great with a large basket, zip pockets on the hood, and an extra pouch at the rear of seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels mean that your buggy will be more stable on uneven terrain, which is ideal for off-road buggies. They also make it easier to move the pushchair around tight spaces. A lot of three-wheeled buggies come with rotating front wheels that assist you in maneuvering around tight corners, while others are designed for running and come with fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability at the speed at which they can be pushed. This also helps when you crash into the roots of a tree or stray road, as the front wheel will rise up to keep you from hitting it.
Many 3 wheel pushchairs feature air-filled tyres, which means they can handle many different terrains and are more adaptable than 4-wheelers. They're also lighter. However, they're susceptible to punctures so you'll need an repair kit, spare tube, and pump on hand.
Our top three-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. Both buggies feature larger wheels that, as per MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on gravel tracks, grass and market town cobbles" and are able to effortlessly go up and down kerbs. They also have a suspension system that according to her "smoothes out bumps extremely effectively".
Buggies with larger wheels can be quite wide, and can be difficult to fit into narrow spaces. This is an issue if you're using it as a jogger or to to get through narrow doorways when out and about. Many models have small folding options that permit you to take off the front wheels and store them more compactly.
Easy to three wheel pushchair pushchairsandprams.uk of the main benefits of a three-wheel buggy is that it's much easier to maneuver, especially with a child in the back. They are designed so that the front wheels can be turned on a dime and are easy to move, making them ideal for terrains that are difficult, such as parks, cobblestones as well as bumpy roads and dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried the 3-wheeler with her toddler, and she wrote: "The Terrain is a pleasure to drive on uneven terrain. The front swivel wheel was particularly helpful." I was also impressed with how well it coped with the kerbs, particularly when using the hand-operated brake. I found it to be extremely steady when I was driving downhill or on uneven ground."
The only drawback to this great maneuverability, is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheel buggy can sometimes make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something you need to be aware of when your home is a city. If this is a problem then a four-wheeled buggy might be the better option for you.

Kath, our MFM reviewer, also appreciated the spaciousness of the buggy.
